Bob Lee, a 65-year-old colon cancer survivor from Barrington, Illinois rode his bicycle 6,500 miles across America in order to help find cures for cancer and ALS, and to help promote awareness for hospice care.

The Ride for Three Reasons journey began March 29, 2007 in Jacksonville, Florida and ended on September 6 in Bangor, Maine. Bob accepted the challenge to raise awareness for the challenges faced by Cancer patients, ALS victims and families faced with end-of-life issues.

Through the generous support of over 1,500 individuals and corporations, A RIDE FOR 3 REASONS was proud to send checks on 12-28-07 to each of the following charities in the amount of $130,65.00 - American Cancer Society, The National Hospice Foundation and The Les Turner ALS Foundation. .

Bob's Journey Began March 2007

With A Ride for 3 Reasons, I hope to inspire understanding, activate fundraising and jump-start cures.

At the same time, as I approach my own personal “mile-marker” of 65 years, I intend to encourage my generation to ride, walk and run to maintain good health and an active lifestyle. I invite you to bookmark this page and join me on this ride via the 3reasons.org website.

All donations will be divided among the three charities: The American Cancer Society, Les Turner ALS Foundation, and the National Hospice Foundation.

I draw my inspiration from the powerful book, Tuesdays With Morrie, my family's experience with Hospice and the fact that I am a cancer survivor.

During the past six years, I have had the opportunity to ride across America to raise funds and awareness for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and Hospice; to ride twice from Ground Zero to Washington D.C. with World Team Sports; to ride with Lance Armstrong's charity, Ride For The Roses, for Cancer; and to ride from Boston to Hyannis port for Best Buddies.

For the past three years, I have been planning A Ride for 3 Reasons: to benefit Cancer, ALS, and Hospice. I encourage you to follow my journey on this 3reasons.org website.
