Drive By Sermonettes
By Bob Lee Ride date: April 8 - EASTER SUNDAY
Andrews, SC to Conway, SC 54 Miles
Please look at this first picture. Yes, two chapters of the same book and two weather patterns that are interchangeable.
I did watch myself as I crossed the bridges.
I know many of you had white stuff on the ground this Easter morning and we did as well.
The temperature dropped below freezing. I feel sorry for the farmer who planted his corn early (above right). We might have had a cold egg hunt, but to lose your crop is much more serious.

I am glad this bunny used plastic eggs

Question for the day: Why do we celebrate Easter with Easter Eggs?
As I rode by a cemetery, I saw these two young ladies placing some lilies on a gravesite. I turned around and went to visit with them.
“Who are you mourning?” I asked.
They told me they were visiting their father who died just this past Thanksgiving at the age of 48.
“And what was his cause of death at such an early age?”
“Lung Cancer!”
Down the road a way, I stopped to read a sign. The first line said “Only One Way.” I wanted to be sure I was going the right way.
As I was taking these pictures this couple stopped to chat as they were pulling out of the church parking lot dressed in their Sunday best. Their message to me this Sunday morning was “God IS Good!” No matter what your faith, it is hard to argue with their outlook on life.
It was nice to see the parking lots full.
Instead of attending a service, I experienced these drive-by sermonettes:
The following are some random pictures taken along the way, and an Easter bouquet sent your way.

I hope you all have enjoyed the Easter and Passover with your loved ones.
Look at the clock. It is time for you to send me some mail.

It was our good fortune to be at the Marsh Harbour Inn on Bald Head Island, NC when Bob arrived. We had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Bob. He agreed to have dinner with us and shared his story. We were all inspired and impressed by his commitment to ride because we have all been touched by his "Three Reasons". We wish him the best in raising funds and spreading the word to find the cures.

Decorated Easter eggs are much older than Easter, and both eggs and rabbits are age-old fertility symbols. The Passover Seder service uses a hard-cooked egg flavored with salt water as a symbol both of new life and the Temple service in Jerusalem. The Jewish tradition may have come from earlier Roman Spring feasts. The ancient Persians also painted eggs for Nowrooz, their New Year celebration falling on the Spring Equinox. This tradition has continued every year on Nowrooz since ancient times.
In Christian times the egg had bestowed upon it a religious interpretation, becoming a symbol of the rock tomb out of which Christ emerged to the new life of His resurrection. It can also represent the darkness inside the tomb inside a hollow egg. Over the years it progressed that the egg, representing spring and fertility, would be merged into an already pagan springtime festival. Connecting this symbol to Christ’s Resurrection in the spring required much creativity and human reasoning.

You photos/notes are a reminder for us all to slow down. Slow down in all parts of our lives or we may miss the important things. Your blog has been a reminder to focus on what is most important in my life. Thanks for sharing your ride!

Loved your Easter Egg, Bunnies and roadside sign messages. We still have lots of snow and cold weather--not above freezing on Easter.
